Russell Rothstein, Managing Director
Before joining eXubrio, Russell was Investment Director at the Israeli office
of Syntek Capital, a European investment company with over 350 million euros
of capital based in Herzliya, London, Milan, Munich and New York. Syntek
Capital’s investors include high net worth individuals such as present
and former directors and CEO’s of Compaq, Dassault Group, Generali,
JP Morgan Chase, LVMH, News Corp Europe, Sony Germany and Walmart International.
Russell was responsible for making new investments in high-potential Israeli
startups as well as helping Syntek Capital’s portfolio companies in
the wireless, cable, and homeland security markets generate business opportunities
in Europe.
Before becoming a venture capitalist, Russell was a successful entrepreneur
in the software and telecom industries. In 1996 he co-founded Open Sesame,
and intelligent agent personalization software startup during the first
stages of e-commerce. In less than two years, the company was acquired
by information management giant Bowne & Co. (NYSE: BNE), a company
with over $1 billion in annual revenues. At HarmonyCOM, an Israeli telecommunications
software startup, Russell was VP Product Marketing and VP Business Development.
He was instrumental in closing strategic investment deals with industry
giants Cisco Systems and Amdocs worth over $5 million and helped raise
over $20 million from international venture capitalists.
Russell began his career in 1990 at Oracle, deploying e-Business applications
for Fortune 1000 companies in the financial services, retail and
publishing industries. Before Russell left, the applications group
became the fastest growing segment of Oracle's business.
Russell received a BA in Computer Science from Harvard University, an MS in Technology and Policy from MIT and an MS in Management from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
Russell, born and raised in the US, has resided in Israel since 1998.
